Shanna Porter - MSW, LICSW

As a social worker, I practice from a person-centered and strengths-based approach. I encourage others to recognize their own inherent dignity and worth. I strongly believe that healing is a collective experience, and it occurs within relationships. This is fundamental to trauma-informed care and healing-centered engagement. I utilize elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Therapy. Identifying values, strengths and goals helps us in the process of addressing thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.

Prior to transitioning to private practice, I spent 10 years working in social services. In my experience, we are formed by the many facets of our lives and strive to integrate ourselves. For example, I am a Christian, social worker, wife, mother, sister, daughter, parent of special needs, foster/adoptive parent, Native American, Caucasian, veteran and survivor, etc. It is a journey to balance our many roles and practice self-care. You are worth it and I believe you deserve to be your full self. Shanna sees clients by telehealth and in-person at 1516 W Riverside Ave, Spokane, WA 99201.
